Water Main Flushing - October 2025

Beginning Tuesday, October 13, 2025, Public Works will begin flushing water mains west of 5th Street West and south of 4th Avenue West.
This work involves opening fire hydrants and allowing water to flow into the storm sewer system. Hydrants are opened in a specific sequence to move any sediment through the lines in one direction. This directional flushing process prevents backflow and ensures a more thorough cleaning of the water mains.
During the process, residents may notice a decrease in water pressure. This decrease in pressure is only temporary while the lines are being flushed. Water pressure will return to normal as soon as flushing is complete and the fire hydrant is closed.
