With the sponsorship of ATCO Gas and Electric, some 95 new helmets were distributed to youth who either did not have helmets or the helmets they had were not safe for them to use. Thanks to local sponsors like Extra Foods (Cardston), UFA, Alberta Treasury Branch, Cardston County, 1st Choice Savings and Credit Union, Canadian Tire (South) and the Town of Cardston every participant received a bag of chips, a bottle of water and a “Safety First” pen to remind them to be safe on the streets.

Loaner helmets and bicycles were made available thanks to the generous support of Safety City and Atco Gas and Electric.

Joran Shot Both Sides and Brooklyn Hardy will each receive a $150.00 Gift Card from Canadian Tire to use toward a new bicycle or safety equipment for themselves.

Bike Rodeo Volunteers

The Southern Alberta Road Safety Society is hosting another annual Bicycle Rodeo in Cardston on May 13-14, 2015. This rodeo teaches children bike and road safety rules, drives home the effect of helmet in preventing brain injuries, and creates a positive engagement with law enforcement individuals. We are looking for people to volunteer to help out at this educational event. If you’ve got a morning or an afternoon free and you’d like to help out, please call the Town Office at 403-653-3366.
