Notice of Bylaw

On January 8th, 2019, Town Council gave first reading to Bylaw #1675: Offsite Levies Bylaw. At the February 12th, 2019 regular meeting of council, the bylaw will be on the agenda for consideration for additional readings. A bylaw takes effect after it receives three readings. Through the authority of the Municipal Government Act (MGA), municipalities can apply an off-site levy bylaw which can be imposed at the time of subdivision or development permit approval of new developments.  Off-site levies are charges that developers pay to municipalities to help with the cost of off-site infrastructure, such as storm ponds, water and wastewater treatment facilities, recreation centers, roads, libraries, and fire halls. Both The Town and developers contribute to the cost of the off-site infrastructure.  Levies help to build great communities, while creating a long-term sustainable strategy for funding infrastructure that enables growth. The legal notice below is being provided as required by the MGA.
