The Town is conducting a municipal census from Monday June 18th until Saturday June 30th, 2018. This will be done by both online and door to door methods. The intent of the municipal census is to confirm the federal census and also to see if there are more people in the community than the federal census indicated. These numbers are important for planning and marketing purposes, but also impact the amount of grant transfers from the Provincial and Federal Government that the Town gets. Larger populations receive more funding for roads, utilities, social programs, recreational programs and other Town services. We intend to keep the process as simple and convenient as possible and request all residents’ cooperation with this effort.
The census can be completed online from June 18th - 29th at www.censusalberta.ca/cardston. If you complete the census online before June 25th your name will be entered into a draw to win $150.00 to use at the Cardston Swimming Pool, Ice Rink, or Lee Creek Golf Course. Online entries after the 24th will not be eligible for the draw.
Flyers with a PIN number specific to the property will be delivered door to door on Monday, June 18th with instructions on how to complete the census online. It is the responsibility of the current occupants of the property to complete the census. If you do not receive a flyer by the end of Monday, please call the Town Office at 653-3366 to obtain a PIN number.
After you get your PIN, visit www.censusalberta.ca/cardston
Three (3) questions will be asked on the census survey:
- Number of people dwelling on the property
- Age of each person dwelling on the property
- Gender of each person on the property
Enumerators will be going door to door beginning June 25th to collect information from residences that have not completed the survey online.
Any other questions may be directed to the Town Office.
