The Town of Cardston is pleased to welcome our new Animal Control Officer and Bylaw Liaison, Mr. Malcolm Hutchinson.
Mr. Hutchinson moved to Cardston from Utah in 2016. He was Born in the United Kingdom, where he went to school at the University of Ulster in Northern Ireland, and had a career in law Enforcement. He has 20 years of experience in Law Enforcement in Northern Ireland, Bosnia and West Africa, and 9 years of military service. Recently, he worked as a Production Supervisor for a gold refinery.
Mr. Hutchinson will resume the responsibility of Animal Control in Cardston. He will be responding to and resolving citizen complaints regarding animals, as well as proactively patrolling the Town for animals at large and coordinating with animal care and rescue groups to facilitate the adoption and care of unclaimed dogs and cats.
In addition to his role in animal control, Mr. Hutchinson will also be working as a Bylaw Liaison for the Town, and will be maintaining a strong presence on Main Street. There he will be developing a rapport with the local businesses and individuals in the business centre. His responsibilities will include notifying businesses and individuals about provincial statutes and town bylaws, reporting suspicious or illicit activities to the Community Peace Officer or RCMP, and looking after the upkeep and maintenance of the downtown business area.
