Details about the the Town's Garbage Bylaw, what can be thrown away, and what must be recycled or composted.Read More
The Town does its best to remove garbage while encouraging residents to recycle and reduce the amount of waste they need to throw out. As part of that effort the garbage collector will only pick up a total of four garbage receptacles per week (Receptacles can be large bags or containers filled with bags), each of which can weigh up to 40 lbs each. If there are more than four receptacles out for pick up at a time, the over-limit ones will be tagged with a sticker and left at the curb. You can pick up $2 "over limit" stickers at the Town Office which will let more than four receptacles be removed at once.
Receptacles containing yard and garden waste will be left at the curb since we encourage residents to compost instead of throwing organic waste into the landfill. Yard and garden waste can be taken to the compost pile at the transfer station or can be composted in a backyard composter.
For residential pickup, please have your garbage out on the street by 9:00 am.
