Help Needed to Keep Storm Drains Clean.

Stormdrains.jpg

The recent snow is rapidly melting in the sun, and at the same time fallen leaves are accumulating in the street. The combination of leaves and flowing water has potential to result in clogged storm drains.

As both common courtesy and in compliance with town Bylaws, the Town asks that residents please monitor the drains near their properties, and do their best to keep them free of leaves and other debris. The temperatures are still dropping below zero at night, which can create dangerous icy conditions if drains are left clogged and allowed to back up with water.

The Town asks that residents please monitor the drains near their properties, and do their best to keep them free of leaves and other debris by not blowing or raking leaves into the street, and clearing windblown leaves away from drains if it can be done safely.

If there is clogged drained that is difficult to clear, please contact the Town Office (653-3366).

The Town is having a fall cleanup in the last week of October. Compostable bags are available at the Town office for those who register for fall cleanup to have leaves and any other compost or household waste picked up during that week (Oct 21-25).
